Printer Speed
Manufacturers rate print speed in pages per minute (ppm) produced at low resolution. Printer speed maybe isn't the most important factor to take into account when buying a new printer but it can get very annoying with slow printers.
Laser printers are the fastest printers, with ratings from 6 to 15 ppm. It's important to note that color laser printers also are a lot faster than ink jet printers. Most have a rated speed of 3 to 4 ppm.
Ink jet printers are rated 4 ppm and up for black text, and photo quality inkjets range from 0.3 to 12 ppm, depending on the complexity of the picture.
